WHY WE GIVE
The bible teaches us to financially give:
1. Proportionally - 10% of our income
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But
you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the
latter, without neglecting the former. -Matthew 23:22
2. Sacrificially
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the
others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
-Mark 12:43-44
3. Cheerfully
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap
generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver. -2 Corinthians 9:6-7
4. Regularly
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it
up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. -1 Corinthians 16:2
